ORLANDO, Florida0—The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (EI) has developed an e-learning program designed to provide new Wyndham Hotel Group general managers with a solid foundation of knowledge to get them off to a good start in their new positions.

As part of Wyndham’s “Introduction to Hospitality Operations” program, new and experienced general managers will complete an online, 75-question preliminary assessment of their hotel management knowledge. Those who score 80% or above will continue their Strategic Training  for Exceptional Performance (S.T.E.P.) onsite at Wyndham’s New Jersey headquarters.  Those who score less than that will participate in Introduction to Hospitality Operations, a five-module e-learning program led by “Tom” their online mentor.

The interactive course will provide activities, case studies, and practice sessions designed to help participants learn more about:

• Property Operations
• Financial Operations
• The Guest Experience
• People Management and Leadership
• Marketing and Sales Management

After completing the online program and the onsite S.T.E.P. training, participants will take a post-assessment to gauge their growth as general managers along with their mastery of the course materials.

"As Wyndham Hotel Group moves from a classroom-based to a blended learning approach, we're leveraging the AH&LA's Educational Institute resources to better understand client needs and personalize the training experience," said Wyndham Hotel Group's Executive Vice President and Chief Retention Officer Duane Elledge. "The customized online assessment tool and training program will help ensure that owners and general managers are well-prepared to positively impact each guest's experience as well as drive property performance -- a significant benefit to the property and our Hotel Group."
