Cobblestone Hotels President and CEO Brian Wogernese said his company has realized significant growth—and is set to open its 100th property by the end of 2018—by focusing on small towns with fewer than 10,000 people.

ATLANTA—Brian Wogernese knows the growth trajectory of Cobblestone Hotels isn’t about developing marquee properties in gateway markets around the globe. But he said the brand has carved out a more-than-favorable niche establishing a presence in markets larger brands typically overlook.
“Our core is those towns of 5,000 to 10,000,” Wogernese said while speaking with HNN at the recent Hunter Hotel Conference. “I’ve met with some of the bigger brands in discussions here and over the last year, and we’re going into market that really nobody else would. The bigger brands either can’t or won’t.”
Wogernese said his company—which marks its 10th year in 2018—is on track for 100 hotels by the end of the year.
