Kickin’ Apps: August’s top hotel apps
Posted by Samantha Worgull at 12:00 AM

Editor’s note: Each month, HotelNewsNow.com’s Samantha Worgull highlights the five best, most interesting, unique and otherwise downright cool apps in the hotel space.

QDelegate
Here’s an app for hoteliers looking to gain a competitive advantage when booking meetings at their properties. QDelegate is a tool that
allows hoteliers to communicate more efficiently with meeting attendees. Hoteliers can do so by uploading and providing content to the app such as schedules, presentations, speaker profiles, attendee lists, maps and logistics. Once uploaded, all event-related info will be at attendees’ fingertips and updated by the hotel or event organizer as needed. The app even allows for attendee-to-attendee messaging, which could come in handy if attendees need to step out for a second and don’t want to miss pertinent information.

Available in: App Store
Cost: Free

Livewire
Hoteliers who still haven’t hopped on the mobile train can look to Livewire for some help. That’s because Livewire will guide those interested through the development, launch and maintenance of the mobile app that best fits their hotel. Livewire’s solutions support all the major mobile platforms such as iOS, Android and Droid, Windows and Blackberry, all from a single code base. This could help in lowering the total costs and time to implement for hoteliers.

Available in: App Store, Android Market or Blackberry
Cost: Case-by-case basis; see their
website for more info

HotSOS
HotSOS stands for “hotel service optimization system.” That alone should be a clue as to how this app could benefit multi-hotel owners and operators. HotSOS is the ideal tool to help give hotel guests the best experience possible. HotSOS allows hotel associates to report any problems from any phone throughout the property as they are completing their daily tasks. This allows for problems to get resolved faster before they impact a guest’s stay. HotSOS also generates a guest profile and stay history, making it easier for housekeepers to anticipate their needs. The app claims to have an eight-month ROI. Check out
this video from the app creator, MTech, which shows the HotSOS workflow.

Available in: App Store
Cost: Case-by-case basis

Jetsetter
Jetsetter is a beautifully designed app that has a great layout for displaying rich property photos that could potentially help attract guests. Jetsetter is an exclusive deal promoting app that gives users up to 50% off on certain spas, resorts, 5-star hotels and boutique hotels. This could benefit hoteliers who are looking to get rid of some extra inventory during a slow demand period. The app is generating a lot of good buzz: 728 users have helped propel the app to a 5-star rating in the App Store. The iPad version has 1,651 ratings with a 4-star rating.

Available in: App Store
Cost: Free

TripLingo
Anyone who travels knows that while it’s great to know the language, sometimes it’s even better to understand the slang. OK, maybe not better—but beneficial. TripLingo allows users to “talk like a native” by creating a customized phrase list tailored to the user’s needs. The app has more than 1,000 phrases, a built-in dictionary, flashcards and an intuitive design which makes it easy to navigate. The app is
available in 12 countries with more on the way. No Internet is required for this app.

Available in: App Store, Android Market, Nook
Cost: Free
