The Atlantic Hotel & Spa joins Charlestowne Hotels
Charlestowne Hotels announced it has added The Atlantic Hotel & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to its portfolio. The 109-key hotel is an all-suite boutique property featuring kitchenettes and private terraces. Charlestowne already has other properties in Florida, including The Collector Luxury Inn & Gardens in St. Augustine and The Moorings Village in Islamorada.

“Boutique property management is a passion for our team, and we understand the intricacies that can make or break a hotel’s profitability. Our tailored management approach pinpoints the sweet spot between operational efficiency, revenue strategy and elevated guest experiences,” Charlestown VP of Marketing Michael Cady said in a news release. “Fort Lauderdale is a strong market, and you need to be more than a beautiful oceanfront hotel to compete. We aim to showcase The Atlantic as a go-to destination by bringing the city’s culture, design and culinary offerings to life as soon as guests click on the website or step inside the hotel.”

Apple Hospitality REIT purchases The Berkeley Hotel
Real estate investment trust Apple Hospitality REIT has picked up the 55-room The Berkeley Hotel in Richmond, Virginia, for $7 million or $125,000 per key. The hotel is near the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, the Virginia State Capitol, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and more.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Apple plans to renovate and reposition the independent hotel. The hotel was first opened in 1988 by Alan Manners Voorhees, an urban planner and civil engineer.

“It is our intention that the hotel will remain independent, and we will leverage our deep knowledge of the Richmond market to create a compelling product for our guests and maximize property-level performance,” Nelson Knight, EVP and CIO of Apple, said in a statement.

Loews Annapolis reopens as Graduate Annapolis
Chicago-based AJ Capital Partners transformed the Loews Annapolis and reopened it as the Graduate Annapolis. In addition to a name change, the 216-key hotel underwent a renovation that includes the exterior, all guestrooms, public spaces, restaurant and meeting and event spaces, according to the Capital Gazette.

Loews sold the hotel to AJ Capital Partners in July 2018. The hotel is near St. John’s College and the Naval Academy, which together have a combined student population of 5,000.
