HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee and LONDON—STR and STR Global have announced changes to the 2011 Chain Scale segments. The Midscale with Food and Beverage and the Midscale without Food and Beverage segments will be replaced by the Upper Midscale and the Midscale segments.

“As the hotel industry continues to evolve in both its product offerings and services provided, we felt it necessary to revise STR’s Chain Scale segments to accurately reflect today’s lodging environment,” said Mark Lomanno, president of STR.

In the past there has been more distinction between the Midscale with Food and Beverage and the Midscale without Food and Beverage segments, but many brands have begun offering a mix of full and select services. Also, there was a need to revise the average daily rate breaks among the Midscale segment along the offered amenities or exclusion of amenities.

This revision will take affect with January processing (on 18 February 2011) and with weekly process (on 9 February 2011) for the week of 30 January-5 February.
