STR Global: Asia/Pacific pipeline for June

LONDON—The Asia/Pacific hotel development pipeline comprises 1,240 hotels totalling 307,346 rooms, according to the June 2011 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report.

Among the Chain Scale segments, the Upper Upscale segment accounted for the largest portion of rooms in the total active pipeline with 26.6 percent and 81,611 rooms. Three other segments each accounted for more than 15 percent of rooms: the Upscale segment (23.0 percent with 70,748 rooms); the Luxury segment (18.1 percent with 55,551 rooms); and the Unaffiliated segment (16.9 percent with 51,793 rooms). The Economy segment made up the smallest portion of rooms in the total active pipeline with 0.9 percent and 2,911 rooms.
