LONDON—The Middle East/Africa hotel development pipeline comprises 466 hotels totalling 127,704 rooms, according to the June 2011 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report.
Among the key markets in the region, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, ended the month with the largest number of rooms under construction with 13,359 rooms (of the 27,564 rooms in the market’s total active pipeline). Four other markets reported more than 1,000 rooms under construction: Abu Dhabi, UAE (7,438 rooms); Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (3,312 rooms); Cairo, Egypt (1,977 rooms); and Amman, Jordan (1,547 rooms).
