Fresh-air break in San Diego
Posted by Stacey Mieyal Higgins at 12:00 AM

While in San Diego last week for the Americas Lodging Investment Summit, IHG invited press to go on a hard-hat tour of a Hotel Indigo, IHG’s branded boutique offering, under construction near the city’s Petco Park baseball stadium. It was a nice break from the intensity of the conference, and it’s always a treat to visit with the folks at IHG.

Here are a few photos from the tour.

It’s just a shell of a building now, but the rendering shows a glass and metal standout.

The Hotel Indigo San Diego-Gaslamp quarter is due to open this summer. Leading the tour is Janis Cannon, who was named vice president, global brand management for Hotel Indigo, in December.

We also saw a mock-up of a guestroom on site, which helped to illustrate how the Intrepret Indigo philosophy will be translated with San Diego’s sunny outlook.

Here’s a view of the ballpark from the hotel’s rooftop terrace area. The fitness center will also be located on this level.

The property will be managed by IHG’s Americas operations division, The Hotel Management Group. According to IHG, this property will be the brand’s West Coast flagship. It’s the second California property for Indigo (it joins the Hotel Indigo Ontario Rancho Cucamonga).
