    The comment regarding " letting the other guy try it first" is revealing. In Europe it is now possible for hoteliers to directly facilitate easier VAT refunds for their foreign based corporate clients than ever before. In the UK for example 20% is loaded to hotel rates and other costs (Wi-Fi, food, parking etc.). Fortunately the UK government allows a full refund of VAT when incurred on business activities for both European & US companies. While added-value services to guests is always a key driver, hoteliers can now extend a direct cost saving service to their corporate clients with no impact on their margin. Some hoteliers are realising the (corporate) customer benefit this offers, but many are still waiting for the other guy!
