Pull out your pumpkins and spooky décor

Fall is here, and it’s a good time to start thinking of creative outdoor activities for guests to enjoy at a social distance.

Today is 1 October, the first day of my favorite month of the year.

I am obsessed with Halloween and have had witch hats, skulls, bats and more up around my house for a few weeks now and am already planning my Halloween costume.

While some of you might not be as into Halloween as I am, I am sure a lot of you enjoy the cooler fall days, apple cider and the leaves changing colors. And so do some of your guests.

While a huge hotel Halloween party is likely out this year, it’s still a great time to think of on-property activities your guests can enjoy while still following social distancing guidelines.

Have an outdoor costume contest and pumpkin decorating. Offer up some spiked apple cider at the bar (or normal apple cider) for guests to enjoy outside by a fire or in their room. Play the Monster Mash on repeat in the lobby (at least that’s what I would do as a GM, which is probably why I am not a GM).

There are tons of possibilities for fun, socially distanced fall activities on property. And there are many ways to engage your team members in thinking of activities that work for your property and giving them the creative freedom to decorate your hotel.

For some inspiration, check out some past content we’ve published on ways hoteliers have attracted guests to their properties during the fall.

Do you have a spooky display at your hotel or a giant pumpkin? How about a really great fall cocktail? Email me your ideas or find me on Twitter.
